Jeff Meier, the Exchange Club of Norwalk, CT, has found a way to blend his community service activities and his pastimes by supporting the Red Cross blood drives.Jeff was looking for a project in which the entire club could be involved. His wife had the idea of running blood drives. Jeff now runs a blood drive for his Exchange Club every 90 days. He has been doing this for the past eight years. He also recruits donors from the Sprite Island yacht Club, where he is a member. The drives havce of lifesaving blood for the Red Cross. The blood drives have gained great community interest, producing up to 63 units in one day. To date, Jeff has helped collect 150 gallons of blood. Jeff believes blood donation is one of the most important ways to give back to the community. “It is a great feeling, doing this for the community,” he said.
